KIVI NIRIA (Royal Institute of Engineers in the Netherlands) asked J-CDS to give a 2 hour evening presentation on Concurrent Design for Systems-of-Systems for its Informatics division, given in Utrecht on March 30, 2011. This invitation was received as a result of an earlier short presentation for the KIVI NIRIA Defence & Security division.
J-CDS shortly described its background and the Concurrent Design process, before addressing the subject of Systems-of-Systems and how the complex design of these can be handled. Introducing various supporting modelling techniques and frameworks, such as UML and the NATO Architecture Framework (NAF), it was explained how these are used and combined by J-CDS in a Concurrent Design for Systems-of-Systems approach.
The presentation was attended by a diverse group of people, having a background in various industries, with engineering positions for software as well as more hardware oriented applications, such as information systems, electronics or medical applications. This led to lively and interesting discussions on various topics.
The presentation (only available in Dutch) can be found at the J-CDS website (http://www.j-cds.nl/J-CDS_KIVI_NIRIA_SoS_Design_20110330.pdf) |
